Shutter Frames

I purchased a pair of old shutters a while back from my favorite antiques store. I love love love the chippy old paint on them! The idea I had in mind was to line the back of the shutters with chicken wire, and then clip square pictures onto the wire to display. I wanted to display more of our recent snapshots as a family – which are mainly pictures from my iPhone. Even as a photographer, I take more pictures of my kids with my iPhone than I do with my big camera!

So, first off, I had to lay the chicken wire alone the back, and staple it along the edges.

And using wire cutters, cut the excess from around the other sides. This was extremely easy to do! I was surprised at how thin chicken wire is.

Ta da!

My next step was to find some metal clips. I searched locally and couldn’t find what I had in mind. But then I came across a post online about how to use paper clips to make heart clips. And because I’m displaying pictures of our family, I figured heart clips were perfect!

I love seeing this everyday and a lot of our happy moments.
These square prints are 4×4 inches. I kinda’ want to go back and order some mini squares of older pictures from when the kids were younger.
