If you’ve followed the blog for a while, you may have noticed that I recently changed the blog name from “all His grace” to “the Sparrow’s Nest”. I’m getting ready to launch an online small business that I’ve named The Sparrow’s Nest that will feature faith-inspired products with a Southern flair. The idea for the name came from the song “His Eye Is On the Sparrow”, which I’ve always loved to hear. “I sing because I’m happy! I sing because I’m free! His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches me.” I’ve been working hard over the past month, piecing a product line together, and I’m excited to put it out on the market!
The idea for this online store has really just bloomed over the past month. And a couple of weeks ago, around the same time that I got the idea for “the Sparrow’s Nest”, a new little brown bird started coming to my kitchen window. I do love to watch the birds and feed them from our kitchen windowsill, but I have no knowledge about the types of birds that come. Well, except for red cardinals. I know that they are cardinals, and they are the most popular visitors to our window! But I didn’t know what this new little brown bird was. He would come and just sit on the windowsill, not bothered by me standing there and looking at him. The other birds swoop in and out, rarely ever actually stopping to eat the seed on the windowsill, especially if I’m standing there watching them. But this little guy is different.
My mother in law was at our house this past weekend, and she saw the new bird. She, too, didn’t know what kind it was. But after doing some research, she emailed me and said that it was, indeed, a white-throated sparrow! I was out to lunch when I got her email, and I was hoping that when I got home, he would be by the window so that I could double check and maybe snap his picture. When I got home, there were FIVE sparrows in our little tree! I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. They all flew away except for one. He actually came closer to the window, where I was able to take some beautiful pictures of him.
I don’t think it was a coincidence that sparrows started coming to our kitchen window at the same time that I just happened to think of “the Sparrow’s Nest” store idea. I know that it is all planned by God for my enjoyment. And seeing my little sparrow yesterday was definitely a God-wink. A happy reminder that HE is indeed watching over me!
